There will never be a better time to experience the emergence of Vietnam. We travel the length of this delightful country from Saigon to Hanoi, taking in many wonderful sights along the way. The cities are full of fascinating museums, mystical temples and busy markets, while the countryside offers gorgeous coast and hinterland scenery. Meeting the people of Vietnam is also a highlight. Their smiling faces, appearing from beneath wide conical hats, will surely be amongst your most memorable images of this beautiful and inspiring country.
Day by day itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive in Ho Chi Minh city. Free day to explore until this evening's meeting with your tour director.
Day 2: Morning city tour of Ho Chi Minh City. Afternoon free.
Day 3: Day tour to the famous Cu Chi tunnels.
Day 4: Fly to Danang and drive to Hoi An. Afternoon walking tour of this historic and beautiful city.
Day 5 - 6 : Hoi An. Two full days to explore the many wonders of the town. The area is famous for tailors - maybe do a bit of Christmas shopping.
Day 7: Drive from Hoi An to Hue, via China Beach and the Marble Mountains. On arrival in Hue, visit the Citadel and the Purple Forbidden City.
Day 8: Hue - the old capital of Vietnam. visit the Thien Mu Pagoda and the mausoleum of emperor Tu Duc. Perfume River Cruise. This afternoon, fly to Hanoi.
Day 9: Hanoi city tour, and free time to explore on your own.
Day 10: Drive to Halong Bay, to board our junk boat for an overnight cruise around the pristine waters of this stunningly beautiful region.
Day 11: Cruising Halong Bay. Disembark and journey back to Hanoi. A highlight of our trip will be tonight's Water Puppet performance!
Day 12: after breakfast, depart for home.
