East African Safari
Tanzania is home to some of Africa's friendliest people and a wealth of amazing wildlife. Starting in Nairobi, we travel to Lake Manyara, where we see flamingoes on the soda lake and look out for the famous resident tree-climbing lions.
We journey into the Serengeti National Park for what is one of the world's greatest wildlife experiences. We spend 2 days exploring the Serengeti and game drive amongst the thousands of wildebeest and zebra. Leaving the dusty plains of the Serngeti we visit a Masai village to learn about their proud culture and heritage and to experience their dancing. Here we also have the chance to visit the local Masai school and sit in their classroom!
Next we explore the Ngorongoro Crater - Africa's 'Garden of Eden' - where we search for rhino, elephant, cheetah and lion. We explore Tangarire National Park, known for its huge herds of elephants and visit a fascinating snake park, which is home to a huge variety of snakes as well as turtles, crocodiles and monitor lizards.
In colourful Nairobi we check out the fantastic African crafts at the local market, feed the giraffes at Giraffe Manor, and spend time with orphaned elephants at the Elephant Orphanage. Heading to the Rift Valley lakes, we hope to see the thousands of flamingos which form a pink carpet across the surface of the lake.
At Lake Nakuru our game drives take in a cast number of bird species and hopefully the elusive white rhino, while at Lake Naivasha we'll take a boat ride looking for hippos! We'll spend 2 days in the spectacular grasslands of the Masai Mara watching for plains game - wildebeest, zebra and gazelle - closely followed by predators - lion, hyena, cheetah and leopard.
