Anna - Travel Manager

Having grown up in southern Africa , Anna's passion for travel and wildlife started at an unusually young age. She took her first overseas trip before she was one, and hasn't stayed still since!

Since studying hospitality and tourism at the University of Queensland , Anna has been involved in various aspects of the tourism industry all of her working life. She has over twelve years' experience as a travel consultant, including four years as the manager of her own agency. Anna joined the Australia Zoo Travel team in May 2006.

Most memorable holiday experience: Camping with the Bushmen in the Kalahari Desert.

Worst holiday experience: Busting my knee while skiing in Canada and having to spend the second half of my holiday on the couch.

Favourite holiday activity: Definitely skiing - on snow, that is!

Favourite city: Vienna , Austria

Favourite country: Hard to say! Probably either Austria or Egypt, or maybe Canada...

Previous travels include: Every continent except Antarctica - but give me time, and I'll check that off, too!

Last trip away: Skiing in Niseko, Japan - WOW!  What an amazing place - so much snow, and a fabulous cultural experience as well!

Next destination: Melbourne for 'Wicked - The Musical' in July

Wish List: Macchu Pichu, Peru; Crested Butte, Colorado, USA; Rome and Siena, Italy.

Bec - Travel Consultant

Bec began working at Australia Zoo in February 2007, and is the newest member of the Australia Zoo Travel team. Bec loves working in the travel industry, helping people plan their next exciting holiday. She also enjoys hanging out with some of the amazing animals at the Zoo, where at any moment you could see a wombat stroll through the office, or a tiger out for a morning walk!

Most Memorable holiday experience:
Paris. It really is an amazing place and seeing the Eiffel Tower lit up at night is something special!

Worst holiday experience :
I always seem to run out of money!

Favourite holiday activity:
Definitely surfing in Hawaii on Waikiki Beach.

Favourite city:
Prague- Czech Republic. It is an unbelievable place. The buildings, bridges and churches are so beautiful you can’t believe your eyes.

Favourite country:
Australia! We have surf, reef, snow, desert, rainforest… we really do live in the most amazing country.

Previous travels include:
I have visited: Holland, France, Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, England, Hawaii, Bali, New Zealand, and of course some great places in Australia.

Last trip away:
I Visited the Natural Hot Springs in Hanmer springs New Zealand.

Next destination:
I’m hoping to go to Japan in May to cheer on my partners New Zealand Water polo Team at the world championships.

Wish List:
Africa, New York, Rome, California, Mexico, The list goes on…

Fran - Travel Consultant

Fran started working at Australia Zoo Travel in October 2007, joining the team with 5 years experience in the travel industry.

Most memorable holiday experience: A snowball fight at the top of one of the mountain peaks across from Mount Cook in New Zealand.

Worst holiday experience: Becoming close friends with a boundary fence on the ski slopes in NZ … twice! Luckily I didn't hurt myself enough to stop me bungee jumping the next day!

Favourite holiday activity: Heading out and exploring the sights and sounds of the town or city I happen to be in.

Favourite city: Take your pick of Vancouver, Melbourne or Queenstown … and Catalina Island off the coast of California is just fantastic!

Favourite country: New Zealand, Canada and Italy

Previous travels include: Family trip to Sicily, Cairns, Daydream Island, Ayers Rock, Bali, New Zealand, cruising from LA down to Mexico, Melbourne, Canada

Last trip away: Skiing trip to Canada in December 2007

Next destination: Anywhere!!

Wish list: Macchu Picchu in Peru and the rest of South America, Europe, Antarctica and basically anywhere else I can travel to!

Frances - Travel Consultant

Frances started with Australia Zoo Travel in November 2007. Her background is very diverse; Soldier, Tour Guide, Backpacker, Lady of Leisure and Travel Agent. Put all that together and you’ve got someone who can help you plan an amazing holiday.

Most memorable holiday experience: Sailing on our very own yacht for two weeks in the Mediterranean.

Worst holiday experience: My passport being stolen in Spain, but what a place to have to stay for an extra week to get a new one. So many shops!

Favourite holiday activity: The holiday itself.

Favourite city: It isn’t a city but Positano, on the Amalfi Coast of Italy

Favourite country: I would have to say I have a couple of favorites. They would be; New Zealand, Greece and of course Australia!

Previous travels include: Sailing in Greece, a visit to South Korea, Backpacking in Europe, touring in New Zealand, living Fiji, working in East Timor and Bougainville PNG.

Last trip away: Fiji for Christmas!

Next destination: North Queensland on a sailing trip.

Wish list: Africa for a Safari, China and Tibet, Canada and Alaska, back to Greece for another sailing trip and anything else I can get my hands on!

Sam - Senior Consultant

Sam joins us with over 7 years' experience, and there aren't too many places she hasn't sent somebody!!!

Worst holiday experience: Bali, not only did I get Bali Belly but also fell off the back of a jetski and made myself sick by swallowing petrol mixed into the water. YUK!!

Favourite holiday activity: Exploring, can't sit still on holidays.. need to see the sights and experience the culture

Favourite city: Melbourne - Great shopping and close to the countryside and cute little coastal towns.

Favourite country: Africa, it is so beautiful and almost felt like home once you were out in the countryside, at times the scenery is very similar to Australia, you had to keep reminding yourself that you were in Africa.

Previous travels include: Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Bali, Vanuatu, Noumea, Norfolk Island, South Africa, Swaziland, Cruising

Last trip away: Escorted a group for 16 days to Africa, we named it The Drought Breaking Tour of South Africa (it may have rained every day but at least it kept the temperatures down.) The scenery is beautiful, very similar to Australia. With a nice size group of 11 people we had a fantastic time and what an Adventure!!

Next destination: Tropical North Queensland in November

Sarah - Travel Consultant

Sarah started working at Australia Zoo in October 2006. Sarah loves all the animals here at Australia Zoo she does have a particular soft spot for the Tigers, Cheetahs and the cheeky Wombats. Sarah Describes her job as the ultimate dream job animals and travel (what more could you want.)

The Travel industry has been Sarah's passion since she was still in School and being able to combine that and being apart of animal conservation. Well words just can't explain it.

Most memorable experience: Disneyland at Thanksgiving

Worst holiday experience: Car Breaking down on a driving holiday through New Zealand

Favourite holiday activity: Skiing

Favourite city: I 'll tell you when I have been to every city on my wish list

Favourite country: Again I'll have to get back to you on that one

Previous travels include: America, New Zealand and a lot of domestic Travel (gotta see your own country first I say)

Last trip away: LA, America

Next destination: Not sure for early in the Year but Borneo in September
